Changes to our Logo Implementation
The method we imprint the logo on some of our Sakai Ichimonji Mitsuhide knives will be changing gradually in the near future.
This is to future-proof ourselves and continue to create high quality knives in line with Japanese law and safety standards.
Read the rest of the article to learn why, and how our logo will be different.
Why are we changing the logo?
Recent revisions to the Food Sanitation Act (shokuhin eiseihō/食品衛生法) in Japan as well as updated social safety standards have led us to pre-emptively change the way we imprint our logo onto our Mono-Steel (zenkō) knives.
Note this does not impact out other knives, where our mark is added via chisel hand-engraving or hammered in with stamps.
While no issues have ever arisen with our painted logos in the past, we take feedback from government authorities and research institutions seriously.
We do this to reflect our commitment to providing tools that our customers can use with confidence for many years to come.
When are we changing the logo?
As this is an optional change, our logo appearance will change as our inventory depletes and is replenished. There is no product recall, as this is an optional change on our part.
During this change, you may see both the old and new version of the logo on our knives in store at the same time.
How are we changing the logo?
Originally, our logo was imprinted using a durable paint-style ink. You can see this method in our SWORD-FV10 production video on YouTube.
Going forward, our logo will be engraved into the knife instead.
