Japanese Handle Replacement
Is your knife handle ok ?
You should replace your knife handle at the first sign of problems.
Even the most attentive knife afficianado, who sharpens , polishes and cleans their blade, can quickly forget about the handle of their knife.
It may be surprising to most, but decay inside the knife handle can happen without you knowing until its too late, this may mean the handle is completely useless and needs replacing, which needs to be done before the blade is affected too.
The tang will rust and crumble.
This photo is an example of a blade tang that has been left inside a handle that has water damage. You can see the extent of the corrossion , next to it , you have a pristine tang from another knife for comparison.
This level of corrosion means the knife can no longer be saved, to prevent this, we recomend the handle be replaced as soon as you notice any kind of crack.
There are many variations in the pattern.
