Sheathes (saya) are crucial for any knife. They keep your knife safe, your carrying bag safe, and you safer from injury.
Our saya come in many shapes, and are available for many knives. However, our saya are handmade specifically for Sakai Ichimonji Mitsuhide knives.
If your knife is not a Sakai Ichimonji Mitsuhide knife, our saya may not fit correctly. Variances in pattern and fit may also occur, due to the handmade nature of our saya and knives.
We recommend buying a saya at the same time as you buy a knife from us. This way, we can test and modify it if needed for a perfect fit at no extra charge. Plus, such saya get a traditional inkan seal placed by us, guaranteeing authenticity. You can see all our saya available for sale here.
Saya are best used for knife transportation. They are not a permanent storage solution in humid environments. For long term storage, we recommend using blade oil and wax paper.

We sell left-handed, right-handed, and double-edged saya.
Not all saya we sell are on our webstore.
We drill a hole into our saya to fit an ebony stopper.
Saya are 20% cheaper when bought in our physical store at the same time as a linking Sakai Ichimonji Mitsuhide knife.
Our webstore prices already reflect this 20% discount.
All wooden/urushi saya on our webstore should be bought with a linking Sakai Ichimonji Mitsuhide knife.
For example, for a 150mm deba saya, a 150mm deba knife should be bought at the same time, in the same order.
Saya sales without linking knives will be cancelled.
Bulk saya orders will be cancelled. 2 saya per 1 linked knife maximum.
If you have a Sakai Ichimonji Mitsuhide knife and want a saya, contact us with the serial number on your sharpening ticket. You can then buy the saya with the discount and inkan authenticity seal.
For saya orders without a linked knife, we will cancel the order or contact you. Customers we cannot contact within 1 week will have saya orders cancelled.
Depending on the situation, we will sell the saya as normal, sell it without the discount, via custom invoice or cancel and refund it.
We do not apply our red inkan authenticity seal to saya that we cannot link to associated Sakai Ichimonji Mitsuhide knives.
When buying saya and knife together, we ensure a good fit before shipping.
In all other situations, we do not guarantee that the saya will fit.
You may need to adjust the saya yourself. We accept no responsibility, exchanges or returns on saya if they do not fit correctly, or if the drilled hole does not match the position your knife needs.
Our saya are made with natural materials. Variances in color and pattern will occur. They may not look the same as our store photos.
